The Costa Calida

The Costa Calida, or the warm coast, continues southwards after the Costa Blanca and forms the coastline of Murcia Province. It is a developing area proving extremely popular with Spaniards and northern Europeans alike because of the attraction of the inland sea, the Mar Menor (literally, the little sea). This affords you safe swimming and a warm sea being protected from the Mediterranean sea together with miles of beautiful beaches and promenades all cleaned daily to retain their pristine condition. The area is a sailors' paradise be it a dinghy or a top of the range yacht; windsurfers love the Mar Menor because of its gentle breeze during summer.

It starts with the resorts of San Pedro del Pinatar (where you can enjoy the mud baths, Banos de Lodos) and Lo Pagan continuing through the upmarket Santiago de la Ribera, the very Spanish San Javier with its old town centre, Los Alcazares, a truly lovely and original fishing village now developing away from the beach to provide modern accommodation and facilities to the visitor and resident alike.

Continue through peaceful Los Belones, round the bottom of the Mar Menor to Mar de Cristal another developing area providing everything the holidaymaker will require and then on to the narrow strip of land separating the Mediterranean from the Mar Menor where you will find the unique resort of La Manga full of hotels, bars and restaurants. Have a walk around the small, picturesque fishing port of Cabo de Palos before eating at one of the myriad fish restaurants lining the harbour.

There is then a long, undeveloped stretch of coastline where the national park of Calblanque provides miles of protected coastline exhibiting a vast range of flora and fauna, pathways and parking facilities all carefully managed for the benefit of everybody, a veritable oasis of tranquillity.

Discover La Union, a former mining town, now re-inventing itself as a thoroughly desirable place to live. The high street is full of life and beautiful old buildings with the local railway providing cheap travel to Murcia and Cartagena cities. La Union is the home to a week long fiesta of traditional Andalucian flamenco dancing with world famous dancers and guitarists.

From the wonderful city of Cartagena, Spain's own Portsmouth, the next major areas are the buzzing holiday locations of Puerto Mazarron and Bolnuevo or choose from the relative calm of Isla Plana and its neighbour, the totally tranquil La Azohia. Finally, the last but by no means least interesting resort on the Costa Calida is the amazing town of Aguilas with its neighbour Calabardino.

Throughout this region we specialise in small, high class developments in small Spanish towns and villages affording you the mixture of convenient, modern living while enjoying the traditional Spanish lifestyle.
